Spacious bar and lounge situated in the busy Coldside district of Dundee. Food served Monday to Saturday – 12pm to 6.45pm.Children are welcome between 12pm and 2pm.

This is a very spacious lounge bar with loads of seating and a lovely long bar, perfect for busy nights, you wont have to wait long to be served.
There are three main themes at John Barleycorn – Entertainment, Food and Football.
Over the last two years owner Natalie Sivewright has established John Barleycorn as a popular music venue. There’s entertainment every week, with an acoustic night on Thursday and a mix of live bands and karaoke on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The pub attracts regulars and guests to these evenings and features well known local bands such as Mafia and Sonnet 65.
Excellent homemade food is served from Monday to Saturday and the menu has something to suit everyone. There’s a good selection of starters and main courses, or choose something from the grill, how about an 8oz Sirloin Garni served with mushrooms, onion rings, tomato, veg and fries. Lighter snacks and vegetarian options are also available. Then why not round it off with something from the dessert menu, try the scrumptious sticky toffee pudding.
There’s an ‘OAP Special’, which is brilliant value for money. This includes soup or fruit juice, a choice from the main courses, then ice cream or tea or coffee to finish off.
John Barleycorn is situated close to Dundee’s two main football clubs so is a great place to stop post match to quench your thirst and have a chat about the game. There are four screens for viewing live matches and with the large car park at the rear of the pub, it’s a perfect venue for bus parties for any of the major football events.
There’s a lovely decking area to the back of the lounge, with wooden tables and benches. Perfect for a warm day and, if you’re a smoker, at least you can have a comfortable seat when you go outside!
